
GLA:D
We are excited to be able to offer The GLA:D program for management of osteoarthritis of the hip and knee. GLA:D is an evidence-based education and exercise program for individuals experiencing pain or stiffness in their hip(s) and/or knee(s) from osteoarthritis. Initially developed in Denmark and launched across Canada in 2016, this program combines education, neuromuscular exercise sessions and data collection to help those living with hip and knee osteoarthritis. GLA:D is a physiotherapist led program that will teach you the right way to move to reduce your osteoarthritis symptoms.

GLA:D consists of 4 parts:
1. Initial Physiotherapy Assessment
1 hour in length
Baseline measurements taken to track future progress.
2. Education sessions
2 sessions, 90 minutes each
Learn about what is osteoarthritis, current treatments, self-management strategies and how exercise can help
3. Neuromuscular Exercise Sessions
12 sessions (2 per week for 6 weeks), 60 minutes each
Build strength with functional exercises
Learn how to apply these exercises to everyday activities
4. Data Collection for Quality Monitoring
Data is collected at your first visit, 3 and 12 months after starting the program
Helps monitor how the program is working for people with osteoarthritis all over Canada and will help improve the program over time
